The Dreamer

Phone rings. Eyes dilate and hearts instantly race in anticipation. Palms begin to sweat as a picture appears on your cell phone. Your thumb anxiously touches the talk button. Suddenly the stage curtains fall and a crowded auditorium melts into nothingness as a brilliant spotlight focuses on you and me; nothing else matters but this solitary union. Within this moment of vast emptiness only we exist. Hours of conversation pass like minutes as we transcend time.

Are such connections still possible, or do they exist only in the hearts of the naive and unjaded? Most would claim they can't be found. But nothing believed to be nonexistent has ever been discovered without a dreamer who dared to search for it. I believe such a connection could last a lifetime, but what do I know...I'm just a dreamer.
